The College recently held an official launch event at the Centre for Assessment Technical Competence Humber (CATCH) in Stallingborough to launch the new Production of Coatings Apprenticeships.
The Production of Coatings Apprenticeships, run in partnership with the British Coatings Federation (BCF) is the only Apprenticeship in England of this kind and is only offered by Hull College. It will support and train individuals who wish to work in the coatings, inks and printing industries and is also supported by The Skills Council ‘Proskills’ and the Awarding Body, The GQA.
Attendees at the event included Coatings Employers, Representatives from the British Coatings Federation (BCF), Proskills and The GQA, as well as College Members of Staff.
A joint presentation was made by Hull College and BCF Staff, to introduce the framework, how this will be delivered nationally and how the Apprenticeship can be used to inject new staff and skills into the Coatings industries.
Also unveiled on the evening were plans for further developments at the CATCH in the training for manufacturing and working at heights.
The evening was brought to a close with Hamish Elliott, Managing Director of the Commercial Division at Hull College and Tony Mash (Chief Executive) of the BCF when they momentously signed the joint working contract.
Shane Foster, Head of School for Manufacturing, Logistics & Renewable Energy, comments:
“The new Production Coatings Apprenticeships are the only ones in the UK, which is a massive boost for the Humber region. Hull College is proud to be able to deliver such an innovative and ground-breaking programme in association with ProSkills and the BCF and look forward to continuing this partnership into the future.”
