The course is a rolling programme lasting 1-2 years depending on ability and workplace

One Day per week - 8 1/2hrs - In college
Learners will study units including:
Food Safety, Teamwork, Health & Safety, Meat, Poultry, Vegetables, Sauces, Pasta, and will have the option of chosing further units from Healthier Dishes, Nutrition & Allergies, Kitchen Documentation.
Learners will also have to complete and Employment Rights and Responsibilities Unit within the qualification to acheive the Apprenticeship framework.
Learners will be required to study Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1, and complete a Technical Certificate - Certificate in Hospitality & Catering Principles (Food Production & Cooking)
Learners will be employed in Institutional Catering establishments such as Care Homes, Schools, Hospitals etc, for which they will be paid. Some assessments towards the qualification will be carried out within the workplace
Successful completion at level 2 could lead to the opportunity to complete a level 3 course part time, or gain employment within the industry.
The days and hours of work will vary depending on your place of work. You may be required to work split shifts, evenings and weekends.
