For the NVQ Level 3 - You choose 1 specialist pathway from:

Industrial pathway - You complete 5 core units:
• Carrying out testing operations
• Assessing data and produce reports
• Providing technical support
• Creating effective working relationships
• Maintaining a healthy, safe and productive work environment.
Educational pathway - You complete 5 core units:
• Contributing to the support of student activities
• Improving the quality and reliability of the laboratory
• Providing technical support
• Creating effective working relationships
• Maintaining a healthy, safe and productive work environment.
For both pathways you also choose 3 optional units that suit your job role, from
• Controlling stocks of laboratory materials and equipment
• Planning delivery of sampling and testing
• Carrying out complex testing operations
• Carrying out complex sampling operations
• Carrying out investigations
• Carry out small scale processing
• Making presentations
• Identifying and monitoring calibration requirements for equipment
• Diagnosing faults, repair and maintain laboratory equipment
• Developing and trialing laboratory methods
• Contributing to the planning of teaching and learning
• Demonstrating laboratory methods to facilitate learning
• Assisting colleagues in particular laboratory techniques
• Leading the work of teams and individuals to achieve their objectives

Knowledge-based element – BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/ National Diploma

Functional Skills Level 2 in IT, Maths and English

Employment Responsibilities and Rights (for those aged 16-25) evidenced through a Workbook from Cogent or SEMTA.
