Overview

This qualification is designed to prepare students who are not quite ready for Level 2 studies, providing additional study time to progress onto Level 2 Hairdressing.  The qualification is perfect for learners starting out in hair or beauty and want a basic understanding of the industry, this qualification is designed for learners who want to prepare for further learning or training in the hair and beauty sector.

 

English and maths are a crucial part of this course, to support with completion of record and consultation cards, working out ratios of products, costs of product plus developing money handling skills.

 

During this course you will achieve a level one certificate in hairdressing, but you will be practising the skills and learning the knowledge to enable you to progress onto one of the Level 2 hairdressing qualifications that we offer at Salon QG.

 

The skills you will cover are personal and employability skills, as well as the technical skills to enable you to offer services within one of our fantastic salons at the college.

 

The core units you will cover are:

                     Presenting a professional image in a salon

                     Working with others

                     Reception skills

                     Health and Safety

                     the art of dressing hair

                     plaiting and twisting hair

                     women's hair styling

                     create a hair and beauty image

 

On completion of this qualification, you can progress onto Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing or enter employment via an apprenticeship or at junior level.

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

We support 1.5 million students every year to explore entering higher education, employment and apprenticeships and manage almost three million applications, from around 700,000 people each year, for full-time undergraduate courses at over 380 universities and colleges across the UK.

Student finance for undergraduates is an important part of the student experience and you may be able to borrow money to help pay for tuition fees and help with living costs. This is all available at the Student Finance website which has a step-by-step guide. Click here for further information.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
