Overview

The civil engineering pathway provides the relevant vocational knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in site engineering, structural engineering design, civil engineering design and transport engineering design. During the course, students will be introduced to key principles in the fields of numeracy, materials, mechanics, construction technology, and health and safety. As the course progresses, learning will focus on the more specialised areas of surveying, geotechnics, and structural analysis.

 

Entry Requirements: 64 UCAS points are required for entry to this programme, however we do also consider application from non-traditional students so please get in touch if you do not have the required UCAS points.

 

Modules/Units:

Unit 1: Individual project (Pearson-set)*

Unit 2: Construction technology*

Unit 3: Science & materials*

Unit 4: Construction practice & management*

Unit 6: Construction information (drawing, detailing, specification)*

Unit 7: Surveying, measuring & setting out*

Unit 8: Mathematics for construction*

Unit 20: Principles of structural design*

Fees: For the PT programme, fees would be £5000 for the first 12 months (80 credits studied), and then £2500 for the remaining 18 months (40 credits of study).

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
